Glimpse of the Job
Join the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine as a Diagnostic Laboratory Technician I! In this role, you will perform routine diagnostic assays, assists in customer service, monitors computers for lab equipment and compiling data. You may also provide technical assistance in research projects in the area of small animal gastrointestinal function and disease.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
The well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ One year in scientific research, clinical, operational, or experimental work
+ Ability to use routine lab equipment, spectrophotometer, pH meters, etc
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Some of the Responsibilities Include:
+ Diagnostics: Performs routine diagnostics using radioimmunoassay (RIA), enzyme-linked reagents required for diagnostic testing immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and automated instrumentation to evaluate gastrointestinal function in veterinary patients. Prepares buffers and reagents required for diagnostic testing.
+ Data Entry: Enters patient data from submission forms into the GI Lab database. Enters and verifies diagnostic results on spreadsheets for sample reporting.
+ Supplies: Maintains records of supplies and reagents as needed for diagnostic testing.
+ Customer Service: Assists GI Lab Admins in customer service. Answers phone calls and communicates with clients.
+ Training: Assists in the training of student employees in the laboratory.
