As a Quality Control Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing project site quality control. This includes using discretion to assess and control risks, performing tests and analyzing results, planning and developing processes to maintain quality standards, and initiating improvement measures related to quality control findings.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee construction projects from start to finish, focusing on quality control.
+ Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the desired standards of care for each definable feature of work.
+ Verify that plans, procedures, and document checklists are used and signed off before each feature of work.
+ Ensure that all materials received are in conformance with the approved submittal, handled, stored appropriately, and acceptable for use.
+ Conduct required meetings with relevant parties before the start of each new work phase and document these meetings.
+ Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify potential quality risk factors.
+ Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications.
+ Perform specified or required tests to verify control measures are adequate.
+ Oversee subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
+ Collaborate with the project superintendent and maintain the project 'as-built' drawings daily.
+ Develop, update, and maintain the project submittal log and all project-specific quality control reporting.
+ Provide written daily QC reports that confirm work activities conform to established standards.
+ Schedule, document, and maintain a log of all required inspections, correcting and re-inspecting non-conformances.
+ Verify that necessary inspections, approvals, and certifications by appropriate agencies are completed.
+ Assemble and forward project closeout documents.
+ Use discretion to stop work if necessary to resolve matters affecting safety, quality, or work progress.
+ Advise on changes to methods and materials for use in projects.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with OSHA regulations, construction, and safety management.
+ Knowledge of USACE, submittals, and federal construction.
+ Proficiency in RFI, RMS, and Procore.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ At least 5 years of recent installation or federal construction experience.
+ Experience in federal building construction.
+ CQCM/QCM certification.
+ RMS experience.
+ OSHA 30 certification obtained within the last 5 years.
Work Environment
The project is strict with a 40-hour work week. The position involves work related to the Army reserves in Des Moines and an AMES USDA project, which is a large ground-up addition to an existing facility. This role requires adherence to federal guidelines and involves collaboration with various stakeholders on-site.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $62.50/hr.
