Mechanical Designer/Drafter
Job Description
As a Mechanical Drafter, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and managing 2D drawings and 3D models essential for manufacturing, assembly, and quality control. This role requires precision and collaboration to ensure that all models and drawings are of the highest quality.
Responsibilities
+ Create, modify, and maintain accurate 3D CAD models and assemblies for mechanical components and systems.
+ Generate highly detailed, production-ready 2D technical drawings, ensuring adherence to national and international standards.
+ Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers to incorporate design changes and ensure models/drawings reflect the latest revisions and design intent.
+ Manage and control engineering documentation, including drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), within the Product Data Management (PDM) system.
+ Review and check drawings created by other team members for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established drafting standards.
+ Assist engineers in selecting standard components, materials, and dimensioning to optimize designs for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-effectiveness.
+ Support the fabrication and assembly teams by quickly resolving drawing interpretation issues that arise during the build process.
+ Develop standard block libraries and templates to improve drafting efficiency and standardization across the organization.
+ Participate in design reviews to ensure documentation meets the necessary requirements for manufacturing and quality inspection.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned to support the company's goals and objectives.
Essential Skills
+ SolidWorks experience.
+ Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T).
+ Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams.
+ Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and technical documents.
+ Associates Degree or certification in Drafting, CAD technology, or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with PDM or PLM systems.
+ Experience in industries such as aerospace & defense, oil & gas, construction equipment, and machine design.
+ Consideration for entry-level candidates with extensive drafting experience from internships.
Work Environment
This position is onsite, primarily involving desk work, but requires occasional interaction with production and the outdoor test facility. Typical working hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
