Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting all phases of a controls project. This includes assisting in concept and research, estimating support, component selection, network design, panel design, layout, device troubleshooting, PLC and HMI programming, on-site installation and debugging, and after-sales support. The role requires working under an established set of guidelines.
Responsibilities
+ Understand AC/DC control systems and read component cut sheets.
+ Assist and support the process for designing and delivering successful control systems.
+ Support in designing and developing layouts for electrical circuits or systems for power and control distribution.
+ Assist in the production of detailed schematics.
+ Support the Systems Checklist for projects during field installation and startup.
+ Develop electrical diagrams with varying levels of efficiency and locate and correct mistakes found in electrical diagrams.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in PLC programming and controls engineering.
+ Experience with AutoCAD for design purposes.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly with PLC and HMI systems.
+ Ability to commission systems effectively.
+ Networking knowledge.
+ Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
+ 5+ years of experience in the field or in controls engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Plan/hardware design skills.
+ Basic knowledge of electrical equipment and local building codes such as UL508a, NEC, and NFPA.
+ Hands-on mechanical and electrical capabilities.
+ Experience in material handling.
+ Understanding of VFDs, servos, sensors, and vision systems.
Work Environment
The work environment is a combination of office work and fieldwork, with travel required 50% or more of the time on a 10-4 rotation schedule. The company is a new and growing integrator, offering long-term opportunities for growth and wealth through an ESOP by the end of the year.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, Kentucky.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
