Job Title: Machine Set-Up Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Machine Set-Up Technician to join our team. This role involves setting up and operating various machinery such as presses, lathes, and milling machines. The ideal candidate will ensure all machines are properly set according to work instructions and will perform quality checks to meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Set up all assigned machinery including presses, lathes, and milling machines.
+ Check work instructions to ensure accurate settings for job.
+ Inspect tooling and equipment for overloads or improper maintenance and report issues to the foreman.
+ Run production samples and troubleshoot to ensure product quality.
+ Check products against samples using gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
+ Visually inspect production parts for defects.
+ Separate materials used during setup from production runs.
+ Train new operators on production processes and proper PPE usage.
+ Support safety and lean initiatives by adhering to OSHA guidelines.
+ Address non-conformance issues and report machine maintenance needs.
+ Complete pre-production approval processes and submit documentation.
+ Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
+ Inventory and order necessary supplies and tools.
+ Provide input during employee evaluations.
+ Complete all paperwork accurately and timely.
+ Participate in skill-building activities and department improvements.
+ Maintain an organized and clean work area.
+ Communicate issues with the supervisor.
+ Follow all written and oral instructions.
+ Maintain acceptable attendance standards and comply with company policies.
+ Resolve day-to-day issues effectively.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with punch press, CNC, blueprint reading, lathe operation, and machine setup.
+ Troubleshooting skills.
+ Proficiency in using calipers.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ 3 years of experience as a set-up technician or in-house experience with a recommendation.
+ Ability to complete TMA training programs.
+ Pass company tests in English, Safety, and Math.
+ Knowledge of safety programs like lockout/tagout and hazCom.
+ Effective communication skills for conveying instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficient in blueprint reading and use of measuring equipment.

Work Environment
Work in a family-owned machine shop dealing with various metal parts. The environment is not temperature-controlled, and the role requires standing for the entire shift.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schiller Park, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
