    Packaging Shipping Technician

     

    As a Packaging Shipping Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and safe handling, preparation, and shipment of products. You will provide leadership to contractor employees, maintain high safety and quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for skill development and growth.

    YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The primary responsibilities of this role, Packaging Shipping Technician, are to:

    + Provide leadership and direction to contractor employees on shift to ensure all work tasks are completed efficiently and safely;

    + Organize shipping tasks and set break schedules to meet shipment demands;

    + Prepare products for shipment by verifying location, directing movement to staging areas, and resolving problems;

    + Verify product inventory by comparing production information and SAP reports with floor counts;

    + Record shipment data and maintain databases;

    + Coordinate the loading and unloading of trailers, verifying each load for correct material, placards, seals, and shipment release;

    + Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot loading equipment, as well as perform mechanical and preventative maintenance;

    + Complete equipment repair notifications and work directly with maintenance on necessary repairs;

    + Perform loading quality checks, document deficiencies, and communicate any loading incidents or issues with scheduled shipments;

    + Issue work permits to contractors and maintenance, monitoring progress through completion;

    + Mentor and train area trainees, providing developmental coaching and setting personal development goals;

    + Complete safety and environmental checks, following up on any deficiencies;

    + Maintain a high standard of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe work environment in support of 5S practices;

    + Engage in continuous improvement programs and identify opportunities to improve performance in alignment with production area and site goals.

    WHO YOU ARE

    Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

    Required Qualifications:

    + High school degree or equivalent (GED);

    + Currently possess OR willing to obtain packaging qualification;

    + Willingness to work in a variety of areas, including control rooms, plants, and warehouses, with frequent walking and standing;

    + Ability to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions;

    + Willingness to climb and perform elevated work using portable ladders and fall protection equipment;

    + Ability to use a Full-Face Respirator;

    + Ability to perform repetitive motion and lift to 60 lbs.;

    + Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends, as needed to support business needs.

    Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $29.47-$42.59. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
