DESCRIPTION
Tailor electronic and electrical systems for Cummins products. Apply and improve electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Provide key input to make decisions in the areas of electronic and electrical system design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems. Configure (tune) and complete comprehensive validation testing of the fully integrated hardware and software systems. Work on the design and application of mechatronics systems including specifying electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems. Apply Cummins’ installation requirements using identified best practices to ensure optimization of performance, reliability, cost and quality. Perform product function, modeling, simulation, and analysis to impact product design decisions. Configure and understand open/closed loop feedback controls features and the system interactions between hardware and software in Cummins’ products. Apply Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) and tools for simulation, calibration, and product life maintenance. Evaluate analytical, simulation and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements. Investigate electronic application and systems problems in order to recommend appropriate action. Translate product requirements into hardware and software technical requirements that control the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications. Analyze technical issues using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques for rapid resolution. Support system integration, validation and troubleshooting activities related to software developed to telematics software application. Work with system engineering team to translate requirements into validation test plans. Lead end-to-end system integration validation for Cummins; first on-engine telematics program, ensuring secure and seamless integration of hardware, software, and cloud. Collaborate with EBU and cloud teams to deliver production-ready features, enhancing system reliability and cybersecurity compliance. Configure Raspberry Pi devices with DNS, TCP/IP, and Ethernet to simulate network environments for robust telematics testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience as an Electronic, Systems, or Product Engineer or related position. Experience to include: Electronic systems development processes; Electronic and electrical system design; Design and application of mechatronics systems; Ensure optimization of performance; Product function, modeling, simulation, and analysis; Open/closed loop controls; Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R); Verify product capability and validate requirements; System integration, validation and troubleshooting activities; Cybersecurity compliance and telematics testing.
