DESCRIPTION
Lead the assurance of continuous improvement toward defect-free processes that meet or exceed customer needs in the supported plant. Manage the resolution and follow-up of quality issues with internal and external customer and suppliers. Responsible for the overall assessment and improvement of the people capabilities, processes, and tools that are critical to the quality assurance programs and processes. Oversee project budget progress and lead cost control activities for assigned teams. Reinforce customer-led quality focus in the supported organization. Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls. Serve as a key quality representative for supplier and customer audits. Follow Six Sigma methodologies in the process of identifying, selecting, tracking, progressing through, and assessing the success of projects and initiatives. Apply and manage methods including SPC, Capability Studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services. Solve problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer. Determine assignable cause of problems, implement data-based solutions, and identify systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Apply Total Quality Management (TQM) principles and customer centric mindset. Use Cummins Operating Systems (COS) and TQM practices to assess performance, set strategy aligned with business need and create consistency of purpose for continuously improving products, processes, and services. Enable data driven proactive decision making to achieve zero defects and remove barriers to enable line of sight to customers. Use metrics to drive continuous improvement and lead a team of direct reports. Guide in the practice and application of quality management system standards required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer’s contractually specified requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions require a Master’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as an Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as an Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Quality assurance programs and processes; Cost control activities; Quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls; Supplier and customer audits; Six Sigma methodologies; Methods including SPC, Capability Studies, Layered Process Audit; Identify systemic root causes of problems; Total Quality Management (TQM) principles; Achieve zero defects and remove barriers; Drive continuous improvement and lead a team; Quality management system standards.
