TheSupervisorserves as a resource and provides team leadership to staff in the Phlebotomy department at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Southern Region laboratories. They direct and assume responsibility for the activities of assigned staff and areas.
The successful candidate will hold Certification as a Phlebotomist, PBT (ASCP certification, preferred) and current BLS certification.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position working variable shifts.
Responsibilities
* Monitors the performance of the assigned staff. Oversees the workload distribution, schedules staff, and adjusts staffing coverage to meet demands
* Represents the section’s activities and/or role at departmental meetings. Interviews and recommends candidates for employment.
* Maintains current procedure manuals for the department section.
* Evaluates, counsels, disciplines, and terminates employees.
* Maintains adequate inventories to provide effective operation of the section.
* Ensures managerial policies, practices, and objectives of the department are achieved within the section.
* As appropriate, receives and processes laboratory specimens. Correctly identifies patients and labels specimens appropriately.
* Performs various assigned functions related to demographic data, test requisitioning, labels, and reports.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
* Associate's degree with 3 years of secretarial experience or equivalent required.
* Proven leadership and organization skills are desired.
