    Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education Teacher Location: O’Rourke Middle School Anticipated Dates: November 21, 2025 - January 2, 2026

     

    The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to join our team at O’Rourke Middle School. This position is ideal for a New York State–certified educator who is passionate about supporting students with disabilities and creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

     

    The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to ensure each learner achieves academic and personal success during the duration of the assignment.

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    + Assessing students’ strengths, needs, and abilities to inform instruction.

    + Developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and curriculum standards.

    + Collaborating with general education teachers, counselors, psychologists, and related service providers to support student learning and growth.

    + Coordinating and supporting paraprofessional staff in the implementation of instructional and behavioral support plans.

    + Monitoring and documenting student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed.

    + Communicating regularly and effectively with families and staff regarding student progress and needs.

    + Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required).

    + Valid NYS Certification in Special Education.

    + Experience working with middle school students preferred.

    + Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

    + Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
