Job Title: Special InspectorJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated Special Inspector with experience in non-destructive testing, ultrasonic testing, and welding for a project in the Portland area. The role involves performing field testing, observation, and inspection of various construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. The inspector will communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors to ensure the project's testing, observation, and inspection requirements are met.
Responsibilities
+ Perform testing on materials such as reinforced concrete, structural steel, and welding inspection.
+ Inspect and review construction sites and materials for compliance with life and safety requirements.
+ Coordinate and interact with contractors in the field.
+ Write Daily Field Reports documenting the work performed by various contractors, indicating compliance or non-compliance with contract documents.
+ Coordinate with the department manager about the progress of projects.
+ Transport material samples with associated documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
+ Prepare and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
+ Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
+ Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites.
+ Adhere to strict safety standards.
+ Ability to lift up to 50lbs to transport material samples and move nuclear densometer.
+ Carry nuclear densometer (25lbs) short distances.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant inspection roles.
+ CWI Certification and UT or MT Level II certification.
+ Experience with non-destructive testing and structural steel.
+ Proficiency with laptop computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ ASNT Level II Ultrasonic Testing certification preferred.
+ ACI certification in areas such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
+ ICC certification in categories like Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, and more.
+ Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
+ Successful completion of internal safety certifications.
Work Environment
The role is 90% in-field, involving travel in a company vehicle to various sites around the greater Portland area. During winter months, most work will be concentrated in North Portland, with opportunities to work on several Data Center projects and the Boardman to Hemmingway Transmission line project. The position offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, with benefits including employee ownership, a cell phone allowance, and company-paid certification testing. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
