.Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Packaging Engineer with strong project management skills to coordinate multiple cross-functional efforts within given timelines. The role involves managing capital projects ranging from $50k to $250k and New Product Development launches with annual sales between $50M and $1MM. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience, with a preference for those with 5-10 years in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, ideally in OTC pharma. The role requires minimal supervision, handling complex issues, and providing leadership and mentoring to a subordinate group, potentially acting as a lead or first-level supervisor.

Responsibilities

+ Coordinate and manage cross-functional projects within specified timelines.

+ Oversee capital projects and new product development launches.

+ Handle complex issues and escalate only the most challenging problems to higher-level staff.

+ Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members.

+ Ensure packaging from Modpac fits and functions properly without involving design work.

+ Break down and manage costs for new and modified products.

+ Participate in capital improvements, focusing on automation and cost management from a technical and financial perspective.

Essential Skills

+ Degree in Engineering (industrial, mechanical, or electrical).

+ Hands-on manufacturing experience or product costing

+ 2 to 6 years of experience in packaging, packaging engineering, and process improvement.

+ Proficiency in descriptive geometry, plane geometry, solid geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry, calculus, statics, manufacturing processes, engineering materials, strength of materials, military standards, CAD, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate Degree or higher in engineering technology, or a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience.

+ BS in Engineering Technology preferred.

+ Experience in the manufacturing industry is considered, even without pharma or medical device background .

Work Environment

The position is based on-site in Orchard Park, operating Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orchard Park, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $47.00/hr.
