What you'll do
The Employee Health Nurse is accountable for the promotion, management, maintenance, and delivery of safe employee health care utilizing the nursing process. The Employee Health Nurse assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to employee safety and health needs. The nursing care provided includes disease detection, prevention and treatment, following up on some selected employee illnesses and injuries, conducting employee health screenings and promoting a safe work environment. All care provided must be consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes and state and federal law.
+ Collects and records relevant employee patient health data accurately, as measured by random supervisory observation
+ Analyzes assessment data to identify employee patient health problems as measured by random supervisory observation
+ Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by direct supervisory observation and random supervisory chart review
+ Provides first aide care for employee injury or illness and acts as a resource for medical/health information for employees
+ Conducts various outreach clinics such as vaccines clinics
+ Promotes annual flu shot benefits and encourages employees to participate
+ Maintains employee health and immunization records
+ Works closely with Infection Prevention / HR Employee Health Business Partner to offer treatment to employees who have been exposed to infectious diseases.
+ Accurately collects data on occupational exposures and informs HR Employee Health Business Partner / Employee Health Physician of all occupational exposures so they can be assessed for prophylaxis and follows all healthcare workers who experience needle stick accidents and/or blood/body fluid exposures.
+ Promulgate initiatives that encourage employees to complete an annual health assessment and document in the computer system
+ Refers personal with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to Employee Health Physician
+ Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues
+ Works closely with Employee Health Physician
+ Conducts a brief physical assessment for all new personal prior to start date
+ Performs an immunization update and determines new personal immunity to immunizations as per regulatory standards
+ Perform TB screening for all new personal, using a TST / QuantiFeron Gold / T-spot or documenting previous exposure and assuring that the new employee if free of symptoms
+ Perform Fit Testing per OSHA standards
+ Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to employee patient diversity, 100% of the time, as measured by supervisory observation.
+ Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validations by due date
+ Conduct annual TB questionnaire for all employees, medical staff, interns, and volunteers.
+ Offers hepatitis B vaccine to all employees, within 10 days of employment and procure declination form as required as measured by data.
+ Conducts surveillance and follow-ups of employee exposures to communicable disease per CDC and NYSDOH guidelines
+ Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.
+ Provides education on as needed basis regarding hand washing and isolation practices
+ Functions within the R.N. scope of practice
+ Adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety
+ Uses supplies and institutional resources in a financially responsible manner.
+ Maintains an orderly, clean and safe work environment at all times.
+ Maintains appropriate, neat, clean and professional personal appearance, including but not limited to required attire such as uniforms and safety apparel.
+ Demonstrates a positive, pleasant and friendly attitude at all times.
+ Uses flexibility, innovation and the highest of ethical standards while conducting any business
+ Demonstrates collaborative practice, support and respect for each team member
+ Participates in departmental meetings
+ Demonstrates initiative in expanding and sharing knowledge
+ Communicates with coworkers while adhering always to hospital policies for the protection of the privacy of employee health information and confidentiality.
+ Communicates necessary information to HR Employee Health Business Partner / HR Director of Total Rewards in support of departmental and facility standards and policies
What we need from you
Education:
+ 2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required
+ 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or BSN in 10 if applicable, preferred
Experience:
+ Minimum 2 years experience in ambulatory and clinical/inpatient environments, required
License/ Certification:
+ Registered Professional Nurse - NYS Licensure, required
+ BLS Certification, required
+ Infection Control Certification, preferred

Physical Requirements:
+ Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
+ Occasional crouching, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping
+ Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, kneeling, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking, fit testing
Hazards:
+ Occasional Chemical, radiation/radiant energy
+ Constant Bodily Fluids/ Bloodborne Exposure
Working Conditions:
+ Occasional Extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, fumes, gases, mists, odors
Travel:
+ Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $37.49/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $56.24/Hr.
