Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

The Machinist operates a variety of machine tools, including 3 and 5 axis machines, to fabricate parts. The role involves loading parts into machines, cycling machines, and detecting malfunctions in operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The Machinist is also responsible for running production lots, communicating with co-workers about production runs, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

+ Operate various machine tools, including 3 & 5 axis, to fabricate parts.

+ Load parts into machines and cycle machines efficiently.

+ Detect and report malfunctions in machine operations.

+ Read and interpret job orders and blueprints accurately.

+ Perform milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sanding tasks.

+ Inspect machined products for defects and troubleshoot malfunctions.

+ Maintain a clean and orderly work area using 5S methodology.

+ Communicate effectively with NC Programmer and Production Manager.

+ Meet production deadlines by following schedules and procedures.

Essential Skills

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ At least 1 year of machinist experience.

+ Proficiency in communication and mathematical skills.

+ Strong mechanical and technical capacity.

+ Attention to detail and effective time management.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with 5 axis machining is preferred.

+ Ability to read micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.

+ Experience in carpentry and machine operation is beneficial.

Work Environment

The work environment includes an air-conditioned and heated plant where safety goggles and hearing protection are required in applicable areas. The role involves standing, lifting, and performing repetitive motions for extended periods. The standard shift hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
