    About Us

     

    The FASNY Firefighter’s Home is dedicated to providing a home-like setting and personalized care for those volunteer firefighters who have served their communities, but can no longer care for themselves.

     

    Governed by the Firefighters Association of the State of New York ( FASNY (https://www.fasny.com/) ) Board of Directors and guided by an elected Board of Trustees (https://firemenshome.com/about/trustees/) , the Firefighter’s Home has been the only facility in the world exclusively dedicated to volunteer firefighters for more than 125 years.

    Position Overview

    The Firefighter’s Home is seeking a dynamic and strategic Development Director to lead and grow our fundraising efforts. This hands-on role is ideal for a self-starter passionate about making an impact. You’ll design and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, cultivate meaningful donor relationships, and identify new opportunities to support the mission of the Home. Working closely with the Administrator, Board of Trustees, and leadership team, you will play a key role in ensuring our long-term financial sustainability. This position is anticipated to grow into a full-time role within the first year.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events.

    + Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels.

    + Research and write grant proposals and reports.

    + Partner with the Home leadership team and the Board of Trustees to create and build fundraising capacity.

    + Oversee donor communications, appeals, and fundraising campaigns.

    + Track fundraising progress and prepare regular reports.

    Qualifications

    + Proven success in nonprofit fundraising, including major gifts and grants.

    + Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

    + Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day tasks.

    + Excellent writing, presentation, and organizational skills.

    + Comfort with fundraising databases/CRM systems.
