What Success Looks Like In This Job
We are seeking an entry-level candidate with the ability to be trained on basic clerical duties and capable of utilizing reference material for procedures. This position requires a candidate who is highly motivated, detail and customer service-orientated with the ability to multitask. Daily duties include greeting customers and directing them accordingly to their transaction type, receiving and logging all mail or drops received in a Motor Vehicle office, and various clerical duties in support of the Clerk and Recorder’s office.
Examples of Duties for Success
+ Greet customers and answers basic questions.
+ Assign customers to appropriate queues using the line management system.
+ Provide forms and informational documents to customers.
+ Manage incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.
+ Open, date stamp, sort, and distribute all mail received.
+ Log mail into the DRIVES system and file by date received.
+ Perform VIN inspections.
+ Assist in reviewing title cases before shredding supporting documents.
+ Assign open tasks in DRIVES to the appropriate clerks utilizing the State computer system.
+ Complete the plate destruction process.
+ Assist and educate the general public on available State and County resources.
+ Empty shred bins throughout the office.
+ Assist in performing opening and closing procedures as needed by the leadership team.
+ Assist in maintaining the overall look and organization of the office.
+ Assist with maintaining appropriate office supply levels.
+ Ability to act as a registration clerk when needed.
+ Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications for Success
+ Ability to assist customers with basic questions; refer complex problems to their leadership team.
+ Knowledge of data entry procedures, typing ability, basic math, and grammar etiquette.
+ Knowledge of interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with County staff, officials, and the general public.
+ Ability to learn specialized Motor Vehicle system and processes.
+ Ability to independently research and utilize office materials.
+ Ability to multi-task and work on other duties in-between customers.
+ Ability to work extended hours as needed.
+ Ability to calmly and professionally assist the general public in person and on the telephone.
+ Knowledge of local office procedures and policies, knowledge of office functions, providing general customer assistance, able to answer most basic customer questions, be familiar with local government organizations and office locations.
+ Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
+ Ability to learn Clerk and Recorder's policies and procedures.
+ Ability to demonstrate the Adams County Norms and Values.
+ Ability to work with other government offices, entities, banks, and financial institutions.
+ Ability to stoop, stand, sit for extended periods, reach overhead, and push, pull, or handle objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.
+ Ability to establish, maintain, and foster a positive and harmonious working relationship with those contacted in the course of work.
+ Work is performed primarily in an office environment. The work atmosphere may be noisy and hectic due to contact with the general public in person and on the telephone.

More Qualifications for Success
+ Education and Training:
+ Must be able to read and write at a high school level.
+ Experience:
+ Minimum of one year of job experience that included customer service.
+ Experience in data entry and computer operations is preferred, but not required.
+ License or Certificate:
+ Ability to become deputized.
+ Reliable transportation is required to get to different motor vehicle branches as needed.
+ Background Check:
+ Must pass a criminal background check, an MVR check will be ran in case the use of a County vehicle is required.
+ Location:
+ Ability to work at various branch offices per the County needs.

Employees who work within the parameters below are eligible to participate in the the medical plan for the employee and child(ren) only as well as the 457b deferred compensation plan:
+ Duration - At least 3 months and up to 12 months
+ Weekly Hours - 30 or more
+ Break in Service Requirement - 13 weeks

This position can be based at any of the following six office locations, depending on departmental needs: Aurora (I-70 and Chambers), Bennett (South 1st Street), Brighton (120th & Sable), Commerce City (72nd & Colorado Blvd.), North Pecos (122nd & Pecos), and Westminster (84th and Federal Blvd.). Please note that the Aurora and Bennett locations are managed by the same leadership team, and staff frequently rotate between these two sites.
