    REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal & Director of Special Education

     

    DESCRIPTION: As a long-term substitute teacher you will plan, provide, and document instruction to students with disabilities in a variety of settings across the middle school to meet the needs identified on students' Individualized Education Plans. This position is a Consultant Teacher and Resource Room Teacher in the High School. All curricula will remain consistent with New York State Standards and New York State regulations governing the provision of special education services. You will collaborate with staff on the student's team to support their needs in the classroom and school environment.

    DUTIES:

    + As necessary plan for, provide, and document instruction to students with disabilities in grades 6-8 as assigned that is consistent with New York State Standards and the NYS regulations governing the provision of special education services.

    + Uphold and support all aspects of Individual Education Plans for students.

    + Work collaboratively with co-professionals.

    + Effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and parents.

    + Complete assessments and reporting as appropriate.

    + Consult and team with teachers and other disciplines in the development and delivery of Individual Education Plans.

    + Provide parent support and education, as needed.

    + Collaborate with the educational team in the development classroom positive behavior support systems, and follow any behavior plans established for students.
