    Job Summary

    The **Business Development Specialist** drives strategic partnerships and resource development to expand Auburn University’s capacity for innovation in teaching and learning on campus, online, and beyond. This position serves as a connector between faculty, researchers, talented professionals in the Biggio Center, and external partners, helping translate creative ideas into funded initiatives that advance Auburn’s academic mission and its historic land-grant commitment to serve the people of Alabama.

     

    With a strong understanding of educational innovation, the specialist leads efforts to identify and pursue grants and partnerships that support transformative programs such as online course design, AI literacy initiatives, immersive learning, and applied research in pedagogy and technology. They will coordinate cross-unit collaborations, design and evaluate research projects, and use AI-driven insights to improve operational efficiency across the Biggio Center.

     

    This role also plays a vital part in **strategic storytelling and communications** , ensuring Auburn’s leadership in teaching innovation is recognized through compelling narratives, events, and outreach. By aligning opportunities with institutional priorities and societal needs, the Business Development Specialist helps strengthen the Biggio Center’s position as a leader in shaping the future of higher education.

    Essential Functions

    + Strategic Business Development & Grant Acquisition: Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to secure funding for innovative teaching and learning projects. Coordinate grantseeking efforts for programs such as online course development, AI consultation, and immersive learning. Support strategic storytelling and dissemination to position the Biggio Center as a leader in educational innovation.

    + AI Literacy & Educational Innovation: Lead and support initiatives that promote AI literacy and responsible use among pre-service and in-service K- 12 teachers, Auburn faculty, and students. This includes curriculum design, workshop delivery, resource development, and cross-campus collaboration to embed AI competencies in teaching and learning.

    + Research Design & Evaluation: Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of research efforts related to Biggio Center programming. Assist withIRB protocols, create data collection instruments, and contribute to data analysis to ensure high-impact programs are continuously improved and effectively communicated to stakeholders.

    + AI-Driven Operational Insight: Use AI tools and data analysis to identify opportunities for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Biggio Center operations. Collaborate with staff to design workflows that incorporate automation, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance service delivery.

    + Institutional Communications Support: Collaborate with the Office of the Provost communications team to draft stories, social media posts, and event recaps. Attend and photograph relevant events to ensure the Biggio Center’s work is documented, celebrated, and shared with the Auburn community and beyond.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Higher Education, Business Analytics, or a related field.AND 2 years of experience in Research methods and statistics, grant writing and proposal development, communications and marketing, higher education focus.
