    Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety

    Overview:

    Lead, develop, and manage environmental, health, and safety initiatives to enhance safety management performance for ABM’s Strategic Accounts Safety team in the Austin market. Oversee and sustain EH&S programs and solutions that align with organizational and operational objectives.

    Job Description:

    • Foster a Safe Work Environment: Lead initiatives to ensure a consistently safe and healthy work environment for all team members across multiple sites within the region.

    • Client Collaboration: Partner closely with client Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) teams to understand expectations, ensure alignment, and deliver best-in-class safety solutions.

    • Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and continuously evaluate advanced safety programs and initiatives that proactively prevent incidents, support regulatory compliance, and reinforce company policies.

    • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Perform comprehensive on-site risk assessments to identify hazards affecting team members, the public, and the environment. Develop and implement effective control measures and mitigation strategies.

    • Assessments and Inspections: Lead regular safety assessments and inspections to assess risk, verify compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

    • Incident Investigation: Partner with Operations to conduct thorough accident and incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.

    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, training records, inspection reports, and corrective action plans.

    • Training and Development: Support safety training programs for all levels of staff, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and specialized training on emerging risks and compliance topics.

    • Culture and Leadership: Champion a positive safety culture by integrating safety into daily operations, promoting team member engagement, and supporting continuous learning and accountability at all organizational levels.

    • Metrics and Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on key safety performance indicators (KPIs), trends, and benchmarks. Provide actionable insights to leadership to drive decision-making and performance improvement.

    • Emergency Preparedness: Support the creation and implementation of emergency response plans, drills, and readiness programs to ensure preparedness for incidents such as natural disasters, chemical spills, or workplace violence.

    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with operations, HR, facilities, and other departments to align safety objectives with business goals and ensure consistency across regions.

    • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on emerging EH&S trends, technologies, and regulations. Recommend and implement innovative tools and strategies to enhance safety outcomes.

    Requirements:

    • Travel up to 75% within the region, primarily driving

    Education:

    • Prefer BS/BA in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health Technology, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

    • Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar are preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an EH&S role.

    • Demonstrated success in leading injury reduction and risk mitigation initiatives.

    • Experience with project management, advanced problem-solving techniques, and strategic planning.

    • Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.

    Skills:

    • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.

    • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams while fostering collaboration and accountability.

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
