Key senior leader to the Truist second line-of-defense (LoD2) Enterprise Data Risk Oversight (EDRO) testing team reporting to the Head of Enterprise Independent Testing (EIMT). Responsible for managing Transactional, Conformance and Data controls Testing teams that serve as the independent testing function for across the enterprise with a specific focus on the oversight of Data Assessment regarding data quality and completeness as it impacts critical various of data outputs (Regulatory Reporting and beyond). Develop, implement, and deliver an independent assessment methodology and output that measures adherence to data management principles across enterprise and applicable within business units. Provide data quality results and value-added recommendations that will influence senior management to improve data management and reporting enterprise wide. Also includes staffing, training and readiness, socialization with teammates and key stakeholders, and planning/demonstrating sustainability. Partner and collaborate with teammates and key stakeholders to ensure the Data Controls Testing Plan is well understood, and aligned with other related enterprise risk programs as appropriate. Provide senior leadership, perspective, insights, influence, and support across broader EIMT initiatives as appropriate.
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Serve as the owner of the Data Assessment program for enterprise wide. Establish practices and maintain a control framework that support ongoing independent assessments of the accuracy of assigned enterprise data entities across the entire organization.
2. Perform second-level risk assessments of selected data processes, including but not limited to, initial collection processes, extract, transform and load (ETL) data warehouse processes and certain regulatory and external reporting processes. Identify, sample, test and report on Quality Assurance metrics and results. Utilize existing resources, and develop new capabilities, where required, to effectively carry out testing and reporting capabilities.
3. Manage the data assessment team and perform coaching and mentoring for teammates. Responsible for salary administration, performance assessment, coaching, team member selection, training, and career development of staff. Validate the work of assigned staff to ensure reviews are thorough and accurately identify risk factors and critical data governance issues.
4. Identify data integrity issues and root cases and appropriately categorize data domains with defined weaknesses.
5. Design and deliver metrics that are supportive of Data Risk Appetite and outcomes of second-level reviews and work with process owners to strengthen and improve data processes.
6. Partner with key stakeholders to reduce risk and improve data governance and data management for Truist data.
7. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate business rules that govern data quality, effectiveness, and scope of use through the development and fostering of a culture of mutual accountability for accuracy and operational excellence.
8. Participate in various Regulatory Engagements that impact data governance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or equivalent education and related training.
2. Fifteen years of banking experience with in-depth knowledge of various lines of business and operations in the data management.
3. Ten plus years’ experience in dealing with complex data processes with minimal documentation.
4. Experiences with financial data, reports and key usages.
5. Communicate and interact with all key stakeholders including Sr. Management and regulatory agency.
6. Excellent verbal, organizational, interpersonal, communication, facilitation and negotiation skills.
7. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Fifteen plus years of risk management experience in financial services or related field.
2. Three to Five years’ experience in senior leadership roles.
3.Three plus years of direct data management and data controls designing, testing and reporting experience.
4. Master’s degree in business, Information Technology and/or Finance.
5. Experience leading/managing examinations at a major regional bank, national bank or with a bank regulatory agency.
6. Strong senior business acumen / knowledge, management experience, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing and decision-making skills.
7. Experienced leadership operating independently as appropriate and navigating ambiguity to deliver value.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating the ability to establish leadership credibility with all levels of management effectively. Can influence effectively with impact.
9. Demonstrated ability to organize, manage and lead complex initiatives and deliver high-quality, executive level work products and reporting.
10. Strong understand of complex data system and End User Computing Tools
11. Adept with control testing tools including of control inventory such as Archer.
12. Knowledge of Finance Data practices and governance framework and well versed in Data Governance policies and Standards
14. Strong understanding of Data Management Lifecycle within a complex financial organization.
15.. Knowledge of coding, data tools and platforms used for managing, storing, querying, testing, loading, and transformation of data (SAS, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Informatica, Oracle, Teradata, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.).
16. CPA/RMA/FRM/CFA or Professional risk management designations such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (Information Systems Audit and Control Association), and/or Project Management certification.
17. Strong background with financial services technology-related laws, rules, regulations, and risk management standards (e.g., Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)).
18. Familiarity with enterprise Governance Risk and Compliance (eGRC) platforms and tools (e.g., RSA Archer).
