Position Overview
Copeland is seeking a highly skilled and visionary **ServiceNow Architect** to join our growing ServiceNow Team. This individual will provide enterprise-level technical and strategic leadership across the platform, ensuring that our ServiceNow ecosystem is designed, built, and governed to align with Copeland’s business needs, industry best practices, and IT governance standards.
The ServiceNow Architect will serve as a key partner to the ServiceNow Platform Owner and IT Leadership, while also collaborating closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders. This role requires both **high-level architectural vision** and the ability to **guide technical solutions** , ensuring our platform remains scalable, secure, and optimized for global enterprise-wide use.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy Ownership
+ Define and maintain the **overall architecture** of the ServiceNow platform to support Copeland’s enterprise transformation and digital roadmap.
+ Partner with the Platform Owner to establish **governance, standards, and guidelines** that balance business agility with long-term stability.
+ Translate business strategies and operational needs into modular, scalable technical designs.
+ Provide thought leadership on **platform evolution** , staying ahead of ServiceNow release cycles, new product capabilities, AI-driven features, and industry trends.
Technical & Solutions Leadership
+ Serve as a **trusted advisor** to business leadership on how ServiceNow can best address business challenges, balancing end user needs with long-term platform maintainability.
+ Collaborate with business stakeholders to **shape high-level solution designs,** across multiple concurrent projects, that align with governance and standards.
+ Develop and validate **high-level solution designs and proof-of-concept prototypes** to assess feasibility, ensuring that **security, compliance, and performance standards** are embedded early in all platform designs.
+ Ensure a **smooth handoff** to developers by framing clear, technically feasible solution designs grounded in deep knowledge of Copeland’s ServiceNow ecosystem.
+ Guide developers and analysts on **solution design, integrations, and configuration** , ensuring adherence to Copeland and ServiceNow best practices.
+ Provide hands-on architectural leadership for key initiatives, including HRSD, ITSM, ITOM, Finance, GRC, SPM, Integration Hub, and Employee Center Pro.
Platform Lifecycle & Upgrades
+ Own and lead Copeland’s **mandatory ServiceNow upgrades** to ensure compliance with ServiceNow’s n-1 requirement.
+ Plan, coordinate, and execute **annual platform upgrades** , including regression testing, stakeholder communications, and change management.
+ Partner with developers, testers, and business stakeholders to **identify, remediate, and document impacts** from deprecations, new features, and compatibility issues.
+ Ensure upgrade activities align with Copeland’s **governance, change management, and SOX compliance** standards.
+ Ensure upgrade and project-related solutioning favors **out-of-the-box functionality** and minimizes unnecessary customization.
Governance & Standards
+ Establish and enforce **coding, configuration, and documentation standards** across the ServiceNow Team.
+ Lead design reviews, solution validations, and architecture checkpoints for major enhancements and integrations.
+ Partner with IT security, infrastructure, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with Copeland’s IT policies and regulatory obligations.
+ Develop and maintain an **architecture blueprint** and system documentation for ServiceNow.
Collaboration & Mentorship
+ Serve as a **bridge** between leadership and technical teams — able to communicate complex technical details in simple, actionable terms.
+ Mentor developers and analysts, fostering a culture of **excellence, innovation, and accountability** .
+ Support capacity planning and platform scalability as adoption grows across Copeland.
+ Engage with external partners and ServiceNow account teams to evaluate new modules, accelerators, and managed services.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Strong foundation in systems architecture, which is typically gained from at least 3 years in an architect or lead role.
+ 3+ years of proven expertise in ServiceNow **architecture, design, and governance** across ITSM and at least one other major product suite (e.g., HRSD, ITOM, ITAM, CSM, SecOps)
+ Strong knowledge of **ServiceNow development best practices** , including Flow Designer, Integration Hub, scripting (JavaScript, Glide), data model design, and CMDB architecture.
+ Demonstrated success in delivering **enterprise-scale implementations and integrations** .
+ Strong understanding of **platform performance, scalability, and security** considerations.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications, Experiences, and Competencies
+ ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification is required, or must be achieved within 180 days of hire.
+ 7 years of experience with ServiceNow is preferred.
+ ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in at least one area (HRSD, ITSM, ITOM, etc.).
+ ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA) – highly preferred.
+ Experience working in **global, multi-region environments** .
+ Familiarity with **SOX compliance, ITIL framework, Agile / Scrum methodologies, and enterprise governance models** .
+ Strong track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners/consultants to drive innovative solutions and achieve enterprise objectives.
