Jefferson Wells has a long-term contract opportunity for a Fractional Compliance Officer
**Position Type:** Part-Time / Contract

**Department:** Compliance / Administration
**Rate** W2 65- 75 hr
Position Summary:
The Fractional Compliance Officer serves as a strategic advisor and operational leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s compliance framework on a part-time or contract basis. This role ensures that both employees and board directors meet institutional and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to ethics policies, IT security protocols, and onboarding standards. The ideal candidate brings deep compliance expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to implement scalable systems in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and manage compliance with key institutional requirements, including:
+ Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest disclosures
+ Onboarding compliance for staff and directors
+ IT-related testing, phishing simulations, and security awareness training
+ Develop and implement monitoring tools and dashboards to track compliance status and trends.
+ Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership and/or the board.
+ Identify compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
+ Collaborate with HR, IT, and other departments to ensure alignment and accountability.
+ Establish and refine policies and procedures to support a culture of compliance.
+ Serve as a resource for compliance-related questions and training needs. **Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
+ 7+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or governance, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
+ Proven ability to design and implement compliance systems and tools.
+ Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
+ Ability to work independently and manage priorities across multiple stakeholders. **Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience working in a fractional, consulting, or advisory capacity.
+ Familiarity with nonprofit governance and board compliance.
+ Knowledge of IT security and data privacy best practices.
