The Paratransit Driver Manager plans, organizes, coordinates, and oversees all aspects of SCR’s driver operations, including the driver scheduling and driver coordinator departments, to ensure the successful execution of Pace contract operations. This position is responsible for ensuring that service is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all SCR, Beacon Mobility, and Pace policies and procedures.
The Driver Manager provides leadership that drives driver satisfaction, retention, and performance excellence while collaborating cross-functionally to improve operational outcomes and maintain compliance with all safety and credentialing requirements. Pay is $60-$65,000/annually.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Department Oversight
+ Lead and manage the Driver, Scheduling, and Driver Coordinator teams to ensure efficient and productive daily operations.
+ Develop and implement practices, procedures, and strategies that produce an effective paratransit driver operation in conformance with SCR and Pace policies.
+ Direct the scheduling, vehicle assignment, and operational deployment of drivers to ensure service coverage and on-time performance.
+ Conduct regular meetings with management and subordinates to review performance, address concerns, and plan improvements.
+ Maintain performance to budget as it relates to driver labor hours, non-revenue hours, and staffing levels.
Driver Retention & Satisfaction
+ Develop and implement initiatives that promote driver engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
+ Play an active role in resolving driver concerns and issues in collaboration with Driver Coordinators and HR.
+ Track and improve:
+ Driver turnover rate
+ Driver engagement/satisfaction scores
+ Issue resolution time
+ Support career growth and professional development opportunities for drivers and coordinators.
Payroll Accuracy & Efficiency
+ Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all payroll submissions for drivers and coordinators.
+ Track and report on:
+ Payroll accuracy rate
+ Payroll issue resolution time
+ On-time payroll processing
+ Collaborate with Payroll, HR, and Operations Support to prevent and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and efficiently.
Attendance & Workforce Management
+ Monitor driver attendance and ensure adherence to scheduled work assignments.
+ Track and improve:
+ Driver attendance rate (scheduled vs. actual)
+ No-call/no-show incidents
+ Late start frequency
+ Time-off trends and patterns
+ Implement attendance accountability plans and ensure consistent application of attendance policies.
Pull-Out Performance
+ Monitor daily pull-outs to ensure timely service starts and adherence to schedules.
+ Measure and analyze:
+ On-time pull-out percentage
+ Early/late pull-out incidents
+ Pull-out delay reasons
+ Work with Maintenance and Dispatch to quickly address vehicle or staffing issues impacting service readiness.
Safety, Training & Compliance
+ Partner with Safety & Compliance to ensure all drivers are certified by Pace and meet credentialing, training, and regulatory requirements.
+ Maintain driver retraining, performance, and credentialing records; ensure no uncertified driver performs service.
+ Support ongoing improvement of safety training and incident prevention programs.
+ Enforce adherence to Pace, ADA, DOT, and internal safety standards.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
+ Track and report operational metrics including OER, labor-to-revenue ratios, and on-time performance.
+ Ensure compliance with Pace reporting requirements and internal KPI expectations.
+ Review and approve disciplinary actions to ensure consistency and fairness.
+ Engage in cross-departmental improvement projects to drive efficiency, quality, and employee experience.
Requirements
+ Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in the transportation industry.
+ Substantial experience in the operations phase of a Fixed Route and/or Paratransit System.
+ Strong working knowledge of Paratransit Scheduling and Dispatch Software (e.g., Trapeze).
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive performance improvement.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively across departments including Safety, Compliance, HR, Maintenance, and Payroll.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Public Administration, or equivalent work experience preferred.
