    Role Overview:

    The Training and Staff Development Coordinator supports the agency’s learning and development functions by ensuring the effective delivery, tracking, and evaluation of training programs across the Department of Child Services. This role provides day-to-day coordination and technical support for the Learning Management System (LMS), assists staff and leaders in navigating training resources, and helps maintain consistency and quality in all training operations. The coordinator serves as a central point of contact for training-related inquiries, provides guidance to LMS users, and contributes to continuous improvement through program evaluation and data-driven recommendations. We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic candidate from a training, education, social work, policy, or writing/editing background to assist a growing team tasked with the coordination and implementation of virtual and in-person training courses used across the organization and potentially in its parent or provider networks. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in a critical mission, is well organized, can be flexible/agile, and may not have existing experience in child or human services.

     

    This position is in the central DCS offices in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Salary:

    This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $42,900 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

    A Day in the Life:

    Responsibilities include:

    + Support administration of the enterprise Learning Management System, including course creation, user management, reporting, and troubleshooting.

    + Provide technical assistance and training to LMS users, including employees, supervisors, and instructors.

    + Ensure training records, assignments, and completions are accurate and compliant with agency and state policy.

    + Coordinate with IT, HR, and program areas to implement LMS enhancements or resolve system issues

    + Manage the general training inbox, triaging inquiries and routing requests to the appropriate staff or system support.

    + Respond to general learning and development inquiries, providing consultation and guidance on available training resources and procedures

    + Support scheduling, communication and logistics for instructor-led and virtual training sessions.

    + Assist with onboarding or certification training coordination across divisions

    + Develop and deliver brief instructional sessions, guides, or reference materials to help users navigate the LMS effectively.

    + Support trainers and subject matter experts with uploading, publishing, and managing course content.

    + Conduct user demonstrations or workshops to improve system utilization and self-sufficiency.

    + Collect and analyze feedback and data on training participation, satisfaction, and outcomes.

    + Support evaluation efforts to measure training effectiveness and identify areas of improvement.

    + Create reports, dashboards, and provide recommendations to inform learning strategy and decision-making.

    + Partner with training staff and program experts to align learning efforts with organizational goals.

    + Maintain awareness of emerging trends in learning technologies and adult learning practices.

    + Assist in documenting and updating standard operating procedures and guidelines related to training processes and systems.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    Credentials:

    + a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ year of experience, or

    + an Associate's Degree and 3+ years of experience, or

    + at least 5+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    + Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

    Additional qualifications:

    + Specialized knowledge of adult training and educational theories, instructional design methods, principles, practices, techniques, and assessment tools.

    + Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, practices, laws, rules, and regulations.

    + Ability to learn new systems, tools, and processes quickly and apply them effectively.

    + Knowledge of SuccessFactors Learning Management System functionality, including course setup, reporting, and user support.

    + Ability to adapt to changing priorities, system updates, or new training initiatives.

    + Knowledge of customer service and communication practices for supporting a large workforce.

    + Ability to provide instruction, coaching, or demonstrations to employees with varying levels of technical proficiency.

    + Knowledge of basic data management and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)

    + Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and propose practical, user-focused solutions.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

    + Ability to exhibit professionalism, tact, and resourcefulness in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Ability to conduct research and remain abreast of new developments in training.

    + Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.

    + Knowledge of state or agency administrative procedures, training policies, and recordkeeping requirements.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
