    Staff/Senior Accountant – Technical Accounting

    • Location: Downtown Houston

    Role Overview:

    Join a high-impact technical accounting team where you'll apply U.S. GAAP to complex transactions and help interpret new accounting standards for a dynamic energy company.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + 🧠 Act as a subject matter expert on complex accounting issues

    + 📄 Draft technical accounting memos for transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, derivatives, impairment)

    + 📜 Evaluate contracts for lease accounting and embedded derivatives

    + 🔍 Monitor U.S. standard-setters and implement new guidance

    + 🏛️ Support stand-alone entities including not-for-profit and FERC-regulated groups

    + 📝 Assist with SEC filings and related disclosures

    + 📂 Provide documentation for internal and external audits

    + 🔄 Adapt to evolving business needs with flexibility and initiative

    Qualifications & Skills:

    + ✅ Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

    + 📚 Experience with accounting research and technical memos

    + 🧾 Familiarity with SEC reporting (preferred)

    + 💻 Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

    + 🧩 Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities

    + 🗣️ Excellent communication and collaboration skills

    + 📅 Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

    + 🔍 Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to learning

    + 🤝 Open-mindedness and willingness to consider alternative perspectives

    Requirements

    + Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

    + Public Accounting

    + CPA or parts passed
