Westat seeks a qualified Vice President, Client Account Lead for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Client Account Lead is responsible for business development strategy, new client development, client account management, and strategic marketing of Westat capabilities and offerings to NIH. In this position, you will collaborate with other Practice Leaders and staff on existing projects and relationships at NIH and lead the development and implementation of a growth strategy that further expands our footprint and yields increased visibility and marketability.
This position is hybrid and averages 3 days per week on-site in Westat’s Bethesda office.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Develops and leads overall growth strategy for NIH across Westat. Accountable for developing a 3–5-year growth plan reflecting the full breadth of Westat’s expertise and capabilities, and developing and monitoring measures of success, including adding to a practice’s pipeline
+ Conducts strategic marketing of Westat capabilities and offerings to new strategic clients
+ Identifies agency-preferred vehicles (AWACS, GWACS, etc.), helps secure prime positions, and then markets vehicles to secure new work
+ Work to qualify the NIH pipeline, focusing Westat resources on the highest potential and highest impact captures and bids
+ Builds and maintains a robust network of client relationships at the agency and other adjacent agencies requiring similar capabilities and expertise
+ Assists BD and capture leads with obtaining key client meetings and representing Westat through conversations, briefings, and presentations
+ Help strengthen Westat’s brand through market- and industry-facing activities
Basic Qualifications:
+ Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 20 years of business development experience at a professional services organization that focuses on the delivery of research, technical assistance, and other professional services to the U.S. federal government, preferred civilian agencies.
+ A solid understanding and knowledge of key information and computing technologies utilized and committed to by NIH.
+ Past success leading a business development function, including capture planning, proposal management, marketing outreach, and communications and branding.
The Client Account Lead must have extensive experience and recognized credentials supporting NIH, adjacent agencies, and broader HHS missions. They should possess a strong, sustained network within NIH and among potential partners, along with proven team- and relationship-building skills. A deep understanding of current and emerging NIH programs, priorities, strategies, and operational requirements is essential. The Client Account Lead must also be familiar with key NIH leaders in program areas, contracts, and IT, and be able to effectively engage with influencers and decision-makers shaping NIH strategy and initiatives.
