The Gordon Ford College of Business is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for a Specialist, Business Graduate Student Advising and Retention. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for all four graduate programs housed in the Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB). This position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective and current graduate students, faculty, and external stakeholders while ensuring efficient student onboarding and the effective delivery of high-quality online graduate education.
Key Responsibilities
Student Services & Support
+ Serve as the first point of contact for prospective and current graduate students
+ Guide prospective students through the admissions process, answering questions about program requirements, curriculum, and application procedures
+ Coordinate student onboarding and orientation activities for new graduate students
+ Monitor student progress and communicate with at-risk students to provide support and resources
+ Address student concerns and questions regarding WKU and Graduate School policies, procedures, registration, and academic requirements
+ Maintain regular communication with online students to foster engagement and connection to the college
Recruitment & Marketing Support
+ Assist with recruitment initiatives and marketing efforts for graduate programs in GFCB
+ Represent the programs at virtual recruitment events, information sessions, and webinars
+ Coordinate with the admissions office to track application pipelines and follow up with prospective students
+ In coordination with the GFCB marketing specialist, maintain MBA program website content, social media presence, and graduate studies website content.
Program Administration
+ Coordinate scheduling and logistics for online courses in collaboration with department chairs and program directors.
+ Prepare and distribute program materials, handbooks, and communications.
+ Process graduate assistantship paperwork and maintain records of awards
+ Manage program-specific events such as virtual information sessions, networking events, and recognition ceremonies
Working Conditions
+ This NOT a remote position.
+ Standard working hours from 8:00 to 4:30
+ Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for events or student support
+ May require periodic travel for conferences or recruitment events
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
+ Strong customer service orientation
+ Microsoft Office Suite
+ Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
+ Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to FERPA regulations
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in higher education administration, student services and/or advisement, or similar
Additional Information:
Salary: $42,800
