POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Business Systems Operations Manager functions in a highly complex, multi-entity environment, supporting all UW Medicine organizations including Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center Montlake (UWMC ML), UW Medical Center Northwest, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Physicians, the UW School of Medicine, and Airlift Northwest as well as shared governance partnerships such as Children’s University Medical Group and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Ensures ongoing operations while implementing and operationalizing system changes to maximize revenue capture, strengthen compliance, and align with industry best practices
+ Translates enterprise strategies into daily execution by directing the evaluation, design, and monitoring of Epic revenue cycle systems and related technologies to support accurate, efficient, and compliant workflows that reduce denials and improve financial outcomes
+ Serves as a resource for process improvement intake, assessment, and technical evaluation of software and hardware solutions, providing recommendations that directly impact both revenue performance and operational sustainability
+ Collaborates with department leaders and partners with the ERC Training Manager to ensure workflows, QA programs, and documentation are standardized and aligned with enterprise strategies, supporting UW Medicine’s mission of improving the health of the public through excellence in patient care and financial stewardship
+ Supervises, recruits, leads, coaches, and supports a diverse team of analysts and specialists, fostering a high-performing, service-oriented, and inclusive team culture
+ Provides operational oversight of Epic revenue cycle modules (Benefits Engine, Authorization Manager, Prelude/ADT, Cadence, Hospital Billing) to ensure accurate data collection, claim integrity, and compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
+ Develops and maintains collaborative, service-oriented relationships with ERC stakeholders, IT Services, clinical departments, coding teams, and external vendors
+ Contributes to vendor evaluation processes, including structured RFP development, solution assessment, and ongoing vendor relationship management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Informatics, or related field
+ 6–8 years of progressive experience in patient access, revenue cycle operations, or Epic systems support.
+ At least 2–4 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing analysts or specialists
+ Demonstrated expertise with Epic revenue cycle modules (e.g., Prelude, Cadence, ADT, Benefits/Authorization, Hospital Billing)
+ Strong knowledge of payer requirements, CMS guidelines, HIPAA, and healthcare compliance standards.
+ Experience leading workflow redesign, system testing, and denial management
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and other documentation tools
+ Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with ability to collaborate across clinical, IT, and revenue cycle teams
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
