Reliability Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Determine reliable mechanical design of our augmented, mixed, and virtual reality products.
2. Understand emerging designs and technologies to develop reliable products free of mechanical defects.
3. Identify mechanical design risks associated with these various technologies and architectures, as well as identifying appropriate stresses that our products must pass and creating mechanical engineering test plans which will be used to assess the reliability of our products.
4. Produce accurate reliability analyses in a timely manner and provide suggestions to improve the reliability of our products.
5. Apply principles of mechanical design to solve failure mechanisms of consumer electronics.
6. Develop and perform reliability tests including mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and characterization testing.
7. Develop reliability requirements at system and module level for consumer facing hardware.
8. Lead stress characterization of appropriate usage conditions and document FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
9. Develop acceleration models and accelerated tests, new reliability test specifications and procedures, and appropriate test plans.
10. Apply design of experiments (DOE) and conduct in-depth research into applicable failure mechanisms.
11. Contribute to failure analysis and use correct methodology to identify root cause of failures.
12. Oversee reliability testing and analysis through product lifecycle and provide accurate and in-depth statistical analysis.
13. Prepare detailed and concise reliability reports.
14. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement mitigations for reliability risks.
15. Apply industry test standards including ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEC.
16. Apply mechanical failure analysis techniques including optical microscopy, X-Ray, CT scan, SEM, EDX, and FTIR.
17. Position requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.
Minimum Qualifications:

18. Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of work experience in consumer electronics related reliability engineering occupation
19. Requires 5 years of experience in the following:
20. Mechanical design, material science, and failure mechanisms of consumer electronics
21. Developing and performing reliability tests including mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and characterization testing
22. Industry test standards including ASTM, MIL, JEDEC,ISO and IEC
23. Failure analysis techniques including but not limited to optical microscopy, X-Ray, CT scan, SEM, EDX, and FTIR
24. Driving stress characterization of device mission profile usage conditions
25. Leading and documenting FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)
26. Developing acceleration models and accelerated tests capturing the Physics of Failure, AND
27. Contributing to failure analysis and using correct methodology to identify root cause of failures
Public Compensation:
$205,898/year to $231,110/year + bonus + equity + benefits
