$7,500 Sign On Bonus
Seeking a Youth Peer Advocate (aged 18-30 ) with lived experience with a mental health challenge who is willing a nd able to share that experience, and has the ability to be trained and certified in NYS as a Youth Peer Advocate .

Job Description:
In this role you will:
+ - Share your lived experiences to support the youth in the program
+ - Work together with providers including Care Coordinator s and Family Partner s
+ - Provide services in the form of direct support, information sharing, and skill building.
+ - Provide youth perspective to professionals and community stakeholders.
+ - Coach, educate, support, encourage youth to use their voice and make informed choices.
+ - Increase youth self-empowerment and advocacy skills.
+ - Mediate, facilitate, or bridge between youth and agencies.
+ - Ensure youth point of view is heard .
+ - Educate others on significance of youth voice and choice.
+ - Serve as spokesperson if the youth requests.
+ - Work within different programs depending on the youth
+ - Work within ASFL Urgent Care
+ - Keep timely and accurate notes including using an electronic health record system
+ - Manage youth’s files and keep track of paperwork
+ - Responsible for any daily or monthly reports
Assist youth in:
+ Building their team
+ Identifying natural supports
+ Connecting to informal supports
+ Collaborating with the team
+ Discovering their own strengths
+ Ensuring the plan of care is customized and individualized
+ Understanding assessment results
+ Defining what success looks like for the youth and their family
+ Resolving conflicts
+ Integrating into community, school, and family
+ Achieving successful independent living options (youth18 and over)
+ Obtaining employment
+ Transitioning into adulthood
+ Navigating the public human services system
- Any other duties assigned
Qualifications:
+ - Demonstrated direct experience with their own mental health challenges
+ - Ability to work as a team player with other providers as well as independently
+ - Ability to work with a variety of agencies/organizations/schools
+ - Must be organized and able to prioritize
+ - Have good organization , writing and telephone skills
+ - Willingness to participate in ongoing training
+ - Good communication and active listening skills
+ - Ability to become a NYS Certified Peer Specialist & a Credentialed Youth Peer Advocate (Note: These certifications require you be between the ages of 18-30)
+ - Ability to have a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
