    Position Overview:

    As a Training Specialist - Work From Home at Galen College of Nursing, you will be responsible for ensuring staff preparedness through the implementation and continuous improvement of new-hire, continuing, and change-based training programs as well as through ongoing assessment and support. The Specialist will assist in the development, delivery, and evaluation of staff training programs, and will periodically assess staff adherence to established business procedures.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Contributes to the continuous development and improvement of training modules, work instructions, slide shows, self-study guides, and assessment tools, as needs are identified through new-hire preparedness evaluations, staff performance evaluations, and changes to organization policies and procedures.

    2. Works collaboratively with department leaders and other Specialists to improve individual and organizational performance by customizing training content that focuses on organization culture and values, quality customer service, regulatory compliance, functional-area expertise, systems and technology, and organization policies and procedures.

    3. Delivers training content using various modalities, both in-person and online, including lecture, demonstration, group discussion, role playing, self-study, and on-the-job training.

    4. Travels to campus locations to assess staff adherence to established business processes, to identify opportunities for refresher training and coaching, and to recommend high-performing staff for growth opportunities.

    5. Contributes to the ongoing coaching and development of new staff persons during the 90-day onboarding period, and of existing staff persons throughout their tenure.

    6. Evaluates training needs and program effectiveness based on changes to organization policies and procedures, information gathered through interviews, surveys, performance audits, and compliance audits, as well as feedback provided by department and organization leaders.

    7. Keeps up with developments in areas of expertise, including subject matter related to organization functional areas as well as training strategies and modalities.

    8. Creates a training atmosphere that encourages employee interaction and participation, that facilitates learning that translates to effective job performance, and that fosters Galen’s culture and values.

    9. Serves as a Galen culture ambassador by imbuing staff with an understanding of and commitment to Galen’s mission, vision, values, and brand standards.

    10. Secures access to rooms, equipment, and technology required to deliver the training program.

    11. Records participation in all training activities.

    12. Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements:

    + Education: Minimum of an earned bachelor’s degree is required. Masters Preferred. Experience in lieu of education considered.

    + Experience: Previous training, advising, or teaching experience required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in higher education in a student-facing role. Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in college level administrative policies and procedures. Familiarity with systems and technology used to manage student data and facilitate workflow execution. Documented experience related to training program facilitation is preferred.

    + Other: Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to facilitate understanding through clear and consistent content delivery. Must demonstrate leadership ability and adherence to Galen’s culture and values. Must have strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Must possess appropriate technical skills, the ability to communicate using technology, and the ability to interact with learning management systems.

    + Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Position requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, and printer/scanner, occurs on a frequent basis. Physical demands may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, or other related activity.

    + Travel: Travel to Galen campus locations required; minimum 25% travel likely.

    + Degree of Supervision: Minimal
