    Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

    Job Description

    We are seeking skilled equipment operators to perform dozer work on various construction projects in Suffolk. The role involves site preparation, grading land to maintain level surfaces, constructing roadways, installing stormwater lines, implementing erosion control systems, and laying pipes.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare construction sites using dozers and other heavy equipment.

    + Grade land to ensure it remains level for construction purposes.

    + Perform roadway construction tasks at the site.

    + Install stormwater lines and erosion control systems.

    + Lay pipes as part of site preparation and construction.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, and motor graders.

    + Experience with fine and rough grading using dozers.

    + Ability to operate mini excavators and skid steers efficiently.

    + Strong understanding of earth-moving equipment operations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Familiarity with operating rubber tire loaders, dump trucks, and pan scrapers.

    + Experience working with small crews on construction sites.

    + Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks as needed.

    Work Environment

     

    Work 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts. Join small crews on-site, where you will perform labor tasks. The work requires adherence to safety protocols, including wearing PPE gear such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and reflective clothing.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cape Charles, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
