    Overview

     

    The Wealth Advisor III is responsible for maintaining existing client relationships and growing their portfolio by building new client relationships. This individual will have a broad and deep understanding of sophisticated wealth management practices and investment strategies. The Wealth Advisor III will create and deliver comprehensive wealth plans and coordinated financial strategies to align with each client’s goals and values. The experienced advisor will be a thoughtful listener, have a strong team mentality and be driven to grow professionally and personally, while providing mentorship and guidance to colleagues. In addition to delivering comprehensive wealth planning, Wealth Advisor III is accountable for achieving new business revenue goals through proactive client acquisition and strategic relationship development.

    Responsibilities

    Position Goals:

    + Client Relationship Management & Business Development Strengthen existing client relationships to ensure long-term engagement and satisfaction. Prospect new clients by actively engaging with the community and introducing them to Tompkins Financial services. Expand share of wallet by identifying opportunities to offer additional services to current clients. Generate referrals through strategic networking with centers of influence and community involvement.

    + Strategic Financial Planning & Advisory: Develop comprehensive financial plans using structured processes and software tools. Ensure client experience standards are met in collaboration with the client strategy team. Create and lead client strategy teams by engaging other professionals based on client needs. Provide expert advice across wealth management disciplines (investment, banking, trust, insurance)..

    + Deliver personalized financial planning by uncovering client goals, values, and financial circumstances to develop tailored, comprehensive strategies that support long-term success.

    + Support team growth and development by mentoring colleagues, sharing expertise, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

    + Uphold compliance and ethical standards by ensuring all client interactions and business practices align with regulatory requirements and reflect the company’s values of integrity, professionalism, and client-centric service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Client Relationship Management

    + + Build and maintain trusted relationships with existing clients.

    + Uncover client goals and develop tailored financial strategies.

    + Deliver presentations and facilitate client meetings with professionalism and clarity.

    + Monitor and adjust financial plans based on market conditions and client life changes.

    + Educate clients on financial concepts and empower them to make informed decisions.

    + Business Development

    + + Prospect for new clients and introduce them to services provided by Tompkins Financial Advisors.

    + Foster relationships with centers of influence and community organizations.

    + Regularly attend charitable events to support community engagement.

    +  Leverage referral networks and community involvement to expand the client base.

    + Represent the organization at networking events and professional associations.

    + Consistently achieve or surpass new business revenue goals as established by leadership.

    + Strategic Planning & Collaboration

    + + Develop detailed financial plans using structured processes and planning software.

    + Assemble and lead cross-functional client strategy teams.

    + Act as a key advisor and resource to team members.

    + Collaborate with internal partners across investment, trust, banking, and insurance to deliver integrated solutions.

    + Contribute to strategic initiatives and process improvements within the department.

    + Compliance & Ethics

    + + Ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements and company standards.

    + Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all client and business interactions.

    +  Stay current on industry regulations and apply best practices in all planning and advisory work.

    + Document all client interactions and recommendations in accordance with compliance protocols.

    + Team Support & Leadership

    + + Provide guidance to teammates on client development and sales strategies.

    + Promote a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

    + Mentor junior advisors and support staff to build skills and confidence.

    + Share expertise and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and development.

    + Other Duties

    + Perform additional duties as assigned.

    + Strategic Leadership & Execution: Leads departmental strategic planning in alignment with organizational goals by setting clear objectives, anticipating challenges, and developing actionable plans. Collaborates with leadership, presents business cases for initiatives, and fosters a reflective, growth-oriented team culture to ensure sustained strategic execution.

    + Influence: Influences strategically by aligning stakeholder interests, leveraging trusted relationships, and navigating organizational dynamics with situational awareness. Builds momentum through past successes, facilitates valuable connections, and drives support for ideas that advance business outcomes.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.

    + Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Wealth Management, Business Development, and Relationship Management.

    + CFP, CPA, or JD certification(s) preferred with mandatory continuing education requirements established by the company

    Pay Range

     

    USD $110,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.

     

    Bonus/Incentive Plan

     

    This position includes participation in a performance-based cash incentive plan. May also be eligible for Equity Grants.
