We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in mainframe technologies and a passion for leadership. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, development, and implementation of complex mainframe applications that meet the critical business needs of our organization. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, business analysts, and other developers, to ensure that the solutions you deliver are robust, scalable, and efficient. As a Lead Developer, you will also be responsible for mentoring junior developers, driving best practices in coding and design, and facilitating a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and excellence.

In this role, you will:

+ Lead the design and development of mainframe applications and systems.

+ Mentor and guide junior developers in coding practices and systems design.

+ Liaise with project managers and business analysts to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.

+ Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.

+ Optimize existing mainframe applications for performance and scalability.

What you need to have to be considered

+ Minimum of 8+ years of experience in mainframe development, with a focus on COBOL and JCL.

+ Proficiency in working with mainframe databases, including DB2 and IMS.

+ Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing development teams.

+ Excellent problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset.

+ Experience with Agile methodologies and software development life cycles.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $66,896 to $132500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
