    About you and this role

     

    Diamond has an exciting opportunity for aSeniorEnvironmental Health & Safety TechnicianinSeadrift, Texas.

     

    As a Senior EH&S Technician, you will share responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. You will provide hands-on industrial hygiene (IH) and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. You will require full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. You may act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

    Responsibilities:

    + Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards, and procedures.

    + Ensures that the IH and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.

    + Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.

    + Serves as plant contact for Health and Safety issues.

    + Coaches’ teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.

    + Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.

    + Ensures compliance tasks are completed.

    + Performs/coordinates certain IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.

    Qualifications:

    + A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent is required AND one of the following:

    + Associates degree or higher in EH&S, Industrial Technology, or similar field or 3 or more years of relevant military experience.

    + 2 or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing role.

    + Must be willing to work overtime (extra hours beyond your regular scheduled) if required.

    + Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.

    + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    Preferred Experience:

    + 5 or more years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing role.

    + 2 or more years in an EH&S role is preferred.

    Physical Demands:

    Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

    + Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes

    + Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.

    + Wear and use respirators.

    + Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

    + Work in tight or closed-in spaces.

    + Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.

    + Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

    + Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

    + This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.

    + Communication: Professional communication, encompasses written, oral, visual and digital communication within a workplace context.

    + Time Management: Time management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity. It involves a juggling act of various demands upon a person relating to work, social life, family, hobbies, personal interests, and commitments with the finiteness of time.

    + Troubleshooting (Problem Solving):Troubleshooting is a form of problem solving, often applied to repair failed products or processes on a machine or a system. It is a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem in order to solve it and make the product or process operational again. Troubleshooting is needed to identify the symptoms. Determining the most likely cause is a process of eliminating potential causes of a problem. Finally, troubleshooting requires confirmation that the solution restores the product or process to its working state.

    + Multitasking:Multitasking is the ability to perform more than one task or activity at the same time

    + Decision Making: Decision making is the process of making choices by identifying a decision, gathering information, and assessing alternative resolutions
