Job Overview: The Energy Marshall is responsible for directing and leading crews of workers on a project. An Energy Marshall is also responsible for managing all aspects of the crew's work including planning, production and monitoring performance. The Energy Marshall reports to the Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager. Per diem and schedules are dependent on project assignment. Travelers are welcome to apply.
Job Functions:
+ Provide comprehensive oversight of all energy management activities.
+ Review and approve all change-of-energy permits, ensuring thorough evaluation by the appropriate parties (e.g., utility owner, electrical engineer, or other specialists as required).
+ Verify that all Step-by-Step (SBS) procedures on permits and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) are appropriate to the task and fully approved prior to commencing work.
+ Communicate and coordinate with all stakeholders (utility service companies, substation contractors, owner, DCOPS, DCS, trade partners, etc.) throughout all energization activities.
+ Ensure a Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program is established, understood by all participants, and that training is conducted as appropriate.
+ Confirm that all energized rooms and systems have a controlled access process in place.
+ Verify that qualified and competent personnel are designated for all high-risk activities (e.g., Live-Dead-Live (LDL) testing, infrared (IR) scanning, etc.).
+ Ensure that accurate and current single-line diagrams are maintained and that all work is tracked accordingly.
+ Confirm all processes and procedures meet established criteria prior to any start-up, switching, or commissioning (CX) activities.
+ Verify that each step of the change-of-energy process, as defined in the applicable MOP, has been properly completed.
+ Report all deficiencies, near misses, or incidents immediately to all relevant stakeholders.
+ Conduct regular assessments of energy management training and verify effective implementation on the project.
Qualifications:
+ Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
+ At least 18 months working as an Energy Marshall.
+ Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
+ Compliance with all PCL policies, procedures, and safety rules.
+ Pass a pre-employment physical examination, DOT and/or Non-DOT drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
Skills
+ Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
+ Ability to understand and interpret construction drawing and specifications.
+ Basic math and measurement skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
+ Computer savvy.
Physical Requirements:
+ Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces above- or below-ground level, such as: towers, vessels, scaffolding, excavations, etc.
+ Able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials without assistance.
+ Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
