    Job Description

    The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world's busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Department's main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs.     The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full time FGAP Director in the Bureau of Safety. Reporting directly to the FGAP Chief./Chief of Safety. The Fireground Accountability Program (FGAP) Director will be responsible to oversee and manage all aspects of FGAP as a whole as well as its various associated component projects. The Director will manage the day to day FGAP activities. They will work with FDNY personnel, other agencies, FGAP prime contractor and support vendor to ensure program success. They will be responsible to hire and manage FGAP staff, validate program performance and outcomes and manage expectations with stakeholders to ensure milestones are achieved in a timely manner. In consultation with the Chief of Safety, they will have the ability to approve milestones and other program deliverables. The Director will coordinate review of project documents, lead and facilitate bi-weekly FGAP program meetings and liaise with other FDNY bureaus to ensure that open items are current. Working with the team, they will collaborate to identify new requirements and technology enhancements to support fireground operations to ensure member safety and accountability. In support of ongoing and new FGAP efforts, they will draft grant request submissions for new and existing FGAP projects soliciting task orders/proposals for new FGAP initiatives and enhancements to current FGAP projects. They will apply for and maintain documentation of FGAP grants and manage day to day scope, requirements, schedule and budget to ensure grant compliance. The Director will ensure compliance within approved project scope, coordinate biding and procuring of approved items for FGAP, prepare documentation for vendor procurements and track procurement documentation.

    Qualifications

    1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or

    2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.

    Salary Min: $118,873.00

     

    Salary Max: $190,015.00
