Job Title: Lead Machine Operator
Job Description
As a Lead Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations on the production line. You will guide machine operators, ensure the smooth running of machines, and maintain production speed while reporting metrics throughout the shift. Your role is vital in monitoring product quality, assisting with machine adjustments, and ensuring safety procedures are followed.
Responsibilities
+ Lead machine operators and oversee production operations.
+ Assign employees to production lines and ensure machines run on schedule.
+ Monitor product quality, taking hourly samples and inspecting defects.
+ Assist with and perform machine changeovers, preventative maintenance, and adjustments.
+ Ensure work is conducted safely and employees adhere to safety procedures.
+ Provide relief and breaks to employees during shifts.
+ Train new employees or delegate training duties.
+ Supply workers with necessary materials, minimizing downtime.
+ Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, including ensuring food safety.
Essential Skills
+ Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in machine adjustments.
+ Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
+ Experience with machine operation, setup, and maintenance.
+ Knowledge of hand and power tools, and electrical repair.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma or GED required.
+ 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
+ 2-5 years of machine operator or mechanical experience.
+ Experience with changeovers, setups, and mechanical repairs.
+ Attention to detail and ability to maintain production.

Work Environment
The work environment consists of a non-temp controlled, clean, and well-organized manufacturing setting. Employees will work in work cell stations, overseeing four machines. Safety is a priority, requiring hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and appropriate attire. Training takes place on the 1st shift before moving to 2nd or 3rd shift. The facility manufactures food-grade paper products with a focus on safety and teamwork.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
