• Driver Supervisor - Linehaul

    ABF Freight (Dayton, OH)


    Job Description

    Perform driver supervision involving payroll, human resources, industrial relations, progressive discipline, and safety in Carlisle, Dayton, or South Chicago.

    Responsibilities

    * Other duties, as assigned

    * Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals

    * Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment

    * Meet with Manager- Linehaul Operations and discuss issues

    * Issue progressive discipline

    * Process vacation and other time off requests

    * Educate and train drivers in accident and injury prevention

    * Bring awareness and focus to safety issues

    * Review and process driver logs

    * Set up and administer driver bids

    * Direct road drivers regarding payroll, human resources, industrial relations, and safety issues, as needed

    * Implement, manage, process, and control administrative functions regarding all road drivers domiciled at assigned location

    Requirements

    * Bachelor's Degree, required

    * Experience in the transportation and/or freight industry

    * Understanding of payroll, Industrial Relations, and current labor contract, required

    * Knowledge of ABF Freight policies, human resources, and ABF Freight and DOT safety requirements, required

    * Ability to train drivers in accident and injury prevention, required

    * Interpersonal skills, required

    * Must be detail oriented and enjoy a fast paced, multi-tasking, customer service minded environment, required

    * Must have excellent verbal and written communications and organizational skills, required

    * Must display sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail, required

    Other Details

    * Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional irregular hours depending on workload.

    * This is a salary position paid biweekly.

    * Variable compensation is included.
