Scope
The Medical Director for Gynecology Quality is a region-wide role reporting to the Senior Medical Director, Women’s Health for the Region. While primary relationships include all Gynecology surgeons, the Medical Director is expected to collaborate, communicate, and build relationships with all members of the healthcare team.

Direct supervising physician leader for region gynecology surgeons.
Leads the process to establish evidence based and best gynecology surgery care for our patients.
Ensures these standards are effectively implemented and monitored across the region and helps to map the journey for patients from specialty care to community-based care.
Leads physician/advanced practice provider collaborations in gynecology surgery care across region. Defines and establishes the care models of all gynecology surgery in the facilities per the CMS/JC direction.
Defines and establishes the care models that best meet the needs of patients receiving gynecology surgery, including supplies and equipment through the entire continuum of care.
Leads the process to identify where care should be provided with clinical program leadership and providers. Leads the strategic vision and physician component of gynecology surgery via telehealth services.
Develops and implements a communication process which regularly informs and connects gynecology surgery providers and teams from across the region.
Develops, educates, and drives results for key performance metrics in gynecology surgery (e.g., patient experience, CMS metrics, documentation metrics, complication rates). Drives for top decile performance nationally.
Collaborates with other members of the gynecology surgery team to develop care pathways for encompassing conditions. Develops credentialing criteria for hospital-based gynecology surgeons in partnership with specialty care.
Works with hospital Boards and clinical and administrative hospital leadership to implement standardized criteria in Intermountain hospitals.
Assesses the access and need for gynecology surgeons and other team members and assists clinical program leadership, specialty care, and Medical Group in the recruitment process.
Evaluates opportunities to scale resources across the system using technology (i.e., telemedicine).
Develops model for gynecology surgery coverage for the region, which includes subspecialty care where appropriate.
Serves as the region resource for gynecology surgery and effectively addresses performance concerns of providers, working in concert with specialty/community care.
Serves as the expert for peer review for gynecology surgery related cases and ensures a rapid response to requests to evaluate care or concerns. Participates in the Surgical Specialties and Women and Newborns (or Women's Health) strategic planning processes.
Helps develop annual goals and ensures goals and objectives are achieved.
Supports appropriate research endeavors for gynecology surgery and collaborates with the Office of Research.
Orients and educates new team members to ensure there is clear understanding of care processes. Creates networking opportunities. Supports local innovation and scales good ideas across region.
Provides specialty specific review and consultation as requested by SelectHealth.
Provides specialty specific consultation as requested by Digital Technology Services.

Minimum Qualifications
ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in surgery.

Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.
Three years of clinical experience working as a GYN surgeon.

Two years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.
+ and -
Two years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
+ and -
Experience with change management and providing leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project management, Advanced Training Program).

Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care). - and Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.
Physical Requirements:
Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$7.25 - $999.99
