We are seeking a(an) Medical Lab Scientist Intern PRN for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Medical Laboratory Student Intern at our facility you will be joining a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:

+ You will be responsible for inoculating and cultivating microbiological specimens from all body sites according to protocol.

+ You will prepare and interpret gram stains.

+ You will be responsible for performing sensitivities on appropriate pathogens according to protocol.

+ You will discuss abnormal results and difficult analysis with department supervisor.

+ You will perform microbiology kit testing (Strep A, Strep B, Influenza, RSV, CD toxin, Giardia antigen).

+ You will document results in the laboratory computer system and perform/document quality control checks and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications:

+ Must be enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science program and be working towards an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist.

+ Complete course work from eligible university (CLS major) and apply/be accepted to internship.

+ Ability to correctly and safely operate automated Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Transfusion Medicine, and Urinalysis equipment.

+ Must be able to read, write, and speak English and have good verbal and written skills.

+ Good computer knowledge and keyboarding skills required.

+ This position is required to successfully pass a color blind test.
