How you will create an impact
The Principal Security Engineer will report directly to the Head of Security Engineering. This role is responsible for building scalable, high-performance security platforms in alignment with AIG’s strategic security objectives. Additionally, this position will be accountable for technology implementation and delivery for strategic security initiatives across ISO.
The position is responsible for partnering closely with domain technical leads to ensure alignment with business objectives and AIG security strategy. This involves defining the security engineering technical architecture, talent and staffing strategy, and overall delivery methodology in collaboration with the AIG Security Office leadership team. Additionally, the role includes coordinating with peers and leaders across AIG IT to manage the security engineering technology stack and coordinate security efforts within AIG security teams.
+ Develop and apply a consistent delivery methodology for creating modern security capabilities efficiently and effectively.
+ Oversee the development, support, and maintenance of an extensive security control portfolio.
+ Lead the development and implementation of security solution architecture and design choices, including defining the overall security technology framework for AIG.
+ Direct enhancements to security engineering delivery. Modify plans to tackle resource and operational issues directly.
+ Act as a Security Engineering Subject Matter Expert for AIG and its stakeholders.
+ The position is responsible for overseeing security engineers and managers across AIG’s security domains.
+ Cultivate and sustain relationships with executive-level business and information technology partners, while managing strategic vendor partnerships.
+ Act as the primary lead and liaison with the wider AIG IT organization, ensuring consistency with broader initiatives and priorities, including security engineering efforts.
+ Drive team recruiting, training, and talent assessment.
+ Partner with Security Engineering Leaders, providing inspiration and motivation to the Security Engineering organization. Cultivate trust and alignment as a collaborative and inclusive leader. Set an example by adopting a global perspective and welcoming diverse viewpoints.
+ Manage complex security projects, ensuring timely execution and collaboration among security engineering, IT, and business teams.
What you need to succeed
+ Experience in both security techniques for protection and counteraction. Ability to use a threat-informed approach to enhance the effectiveness of security controls.
+ Knowledge of threat intelligence concepts, focusing on a threat-informed approach to security engineering, along with security management, business intelligence, and security design and implementation techniques.
+ Deep knowledge of modern security architectures, including security operations centers (SOC), data protection, threat detection, and response.
+ Skilled in managing service providers to benefit the organization, creating flexible and high-quality partnerships with vendors.
+ Demonstrates the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that business leaders can understand and appreciate the implications of these concepts for strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
+ Skilled in negotiating priorities between technical teams and business stakeholders.
+ Proven program and project management expertise.
+ Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Ideal Experience
+ 5-10 years of experience in information security, focusing on threat remediation and engineering.
+ Experience in leading a security team specializing in technology control evaluation and threat assessments
+ Experience in designing controls for complex cloud environments (AWS).
+ Experience implementing security policies and controls framework.
+ Experience in strategic development and implementation, including security and technology.
