Our team in Davie, Florida is seeking a Senior Design Manager to support a confidential client’s capital improvement program. This role involves leading design management and contract administration for architectural and engineering services, overseeing staff and sub-consultants, and ensuring high-quality contract documents for new facilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead design transition meetings and coordinate due diligence reviews; communicate findings to capital program leadership.
* Review and support the development of programming criteria across multiple projects; escalate discrepancies to the Program Director.
* Assist with site approvals and due diligence documentation.
* Maintain comprehensive Design Summary Sheets for each project, including scope, contacts, site considerations, and phasing.
* Ensure design teams adhere to document management protocols.
* Verify design and code compliance, including life safety and building codes.
* Facilitate design review sessions using Bluebeam and coordinate feedback from client SMEs and end-users.
* Conduct high-level reviews of drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with Owner’s Standards and programmed criteria.
* Assess architectural drawings for coordination and finish schedules.
* Support the preparation and updating of specifications and design requirement documents.
* Monitor design-related schedule milestones and notify leadership of delays.
* Maintain and track resolution of Design Issues Lists; escalate unresolved items.
* Lead regular design meetings to assess progress and quality, adjusting frequency based on project phase.
* Ensure programmed criteria are updated at each design phase.
* Maintain design checklists for construction transition readiness.
* Coordinate required reviews with state agencies, fire marshals, and building code officials; assist with comment reconciliation.
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field.
* 15+ years of progressive experience in architectural programming, planning, design management, and schedule coordination.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and manage complex projects.
* Strong understanding of building codes, life safety standards, and document control processes.
* Proficiency in design review tools such as Bluebeam.
Ideally, you'll also have
* Master’s degree in Architecture.
* Experience managing capital improvement programs for public or institutional clients.
* Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification processes.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
