About the Role
We’re seeking experienced Fiber Splicing Technicians (Level II & III) to join our team for a high-impact project in Abilene, TX. This is a traveling position open to candidates nationwide who are willing to work on-site for extended periods. You’ll be working in a data center environment, handling high-count fiber cables, performing splicing, testing, and troubleshooting with precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Level II Technicians
+ Perform mid-level aerial, underground, and ISP cable splicing
+ Interpret construction prints and splice matrixes
+ Execute mid-sheath cable entry and ribbon splicing
+ Conduct OTDR and power meter testing
+ Install splice enclosures and perform cable relocations
+ Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
+ Respond to emergency outages with urgency
+ Maintain strict safety standards
Level III Technicians
+ Lead complex splicing projects independently
+ Troubleshoot networks and deliver test results
+ Create Smart Sheets and Excel trackers for project tracking
+ Conduct pre-job inspections and field meetings
+ Manage on-site project elements and mentor other technicians
+ Drive quality, efficiency, and safety in the field
+ Champion company culture and process improvements
Required Skills & Experience
+ Proficiency in fiber optic cable, fiber splicing, and data center installations
+ Experience with mass fusion splicing and ribbon splicing
+ Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
+ Strong troubleshooting and testing skills (OTDR, power meter)
+ Safety-centric mindset and ability to work long hours
+ Willingness to travel and work on a rotational schedule
Project Details
+ Each building includes 154 6912-count cables
+ Technicians will prep, splice, and test these cables on OSEs
+ Work involves splicing to pre-terminated blunt pigtails installed by others

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $40.00/hr.
