Summary: Performs a variety of duties to maintain smooth operation of Hospital heating, water, and drain systems. Duties will be performed in accordance with all local, state and Federal codes. Duties include, but not limited to, installing and repairing plumbing fixtures, hot and cold water lines, sewer and steam lines, heating systems and medical gas systems. Employee will work under the direction of the Engineering Site Manager or his designee. Assignments will be given out daily. Snow removal may be required
Education: High School diploma or GED required
Licensure: Journeyman Plumber License
Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as a licensed journeyman Plumber Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of heat, water and steam systems. Skills & Abilities: Thorough knowledge of B.O.C.A. code. Knowledge of methods and techniques used in repair and installation of water, steam, drain, venting and medical gas systems. Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Maintains information confidential (HIPAA) Demonstrated customer service skills Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams. Qualities: Motivation and self-direction and professional accountability
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Work requires person to stand or walk most of the day. On average approximately 75% of the tasks involve lifting weights in the range of 5 to 10 pounds and 5% of the tasks involve lifting weights in the range of 25 to 5-0 pounds. On average approximately 50% of the tasks involve reaching overhead and working off of ladders most of this time. On average approximately 5% of the duties involve working with hazardous substances which necessitate the use of safety apparel. Occasionally some of the duties involve working on or around moving machinery, electrical systems, infectious systems, excessive heat, dust and noise which necessitates the use of proper precautions.
