Here's how a Health, Safety, and Environment Intern contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

+ Gathers/reviews/distributes safety-related statistical information.

+ Monitors site-specific programs/requirements/compliance.

+ Recognizes and follows PCL and local legislative requirements.

+ Anticipates questions based on experience, knowledge, and understanding of client needs.

+ Conceptually visualizes a completed project or project component (e.g., generator installation process).

+ Recognizes behaviors, conditions, and activities that can adversely affect health.

+ Interprets simple work sequences.

+ Liaises effectively with project and field management.

+ Applies basic knowledge of behavioral concepts.

+ Interprets, communicates, and reinforces project safety standards to workforce.

+ Other duties as required.

Qualifications

+ Working toward Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related area of study.

+ A desire to pursue a career as a HSE professional.

+ 18 years of age or older and possesses a valid Driver's License.

+ Knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental legislation and HSE processes.

+ Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

+ Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.

+ A strong aptitude for adopting new technology.

+ Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis and climb ladders and stairs.

+ Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment.

+ Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check, a physical, and a substance abuse test each conducted by a third party.
