Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Design Engineer to join a manufacturing company based in West Hartford, CT. The Design Engineer will lead the design and development of new products and accessories across their full lifecycle—from concept through production. This role involves overseeing prototype development, conducting detailed engineering analysis, and authoring comprehensive test reports. You'll collaborate closely with the VP of Engineering and Mangaement to ensure all designs meet stringent safety, functionality, and durability standards while conforming to the requirement set forth by customer specific requirements or internal requirements provided by product management. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Lead the full lifecycle design and development of new firearm products and accessories, from concept through production.

-Oversee prototype fabrication and testing; analyze results to refine designs and produce detailed, professional test reports.

-Conduct engineering analyses and simulations to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

-Utilize 3D CAD software (PTC CREO) to develop models and maintain comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.

-Perform and document Design FMEAs for new product introductions.

-Own and manage RAID logs, tracking Risks, Actions, Issues, and Decisions throughout the design lifecycle.

Skills and Requirements

-Ideally, minimum of 5+ years of experience in firearm design and development.

-Proficient knowledge of GD&T.

-Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for firearms.

-PTC CREO CAD experience required -BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

-Experience with mechanical device products

-Strong understanding of firearm mechanics, ballistics, and materials science.

-Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

-Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
