    **The UW Department of Pediatrics** is committed to improving the health and well-being of all children and adolescents.     **The Washington INCLUDE Collaborative** operates within the Clinical Training Unit (CTU), which is part of the UW Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD). The mission of the Washington INCLUDE Collaborative is to enhance care and quality of life for individuals and families affected by autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Washington State. Our work centers on building workforce capacity to support these individuals in their home communities.

     

    This position is for an **Autistic Self Advocate** who will serve as a member of our ECHO Hub Team. We value and prioritize representation from individuals with lived experience of autism, recognizing the importance of their perspectives in shaping meaningful and inclusive care.

     

    **The UW Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) Program** provides statewide training for healthcare providers by fostering community and expanding knowledge. Using a “hub and spoke” model, hub team members share expertise based on professional training and/or lived experience, while spoke members—community-based providers—present de-identified cases for collaborative discussion. This “all teach, all learn” approach builds provider confidence and strengthens statewide networks of care.

     

    In this role, the Autistic Self Advocate will participate on ECHO Hub teams across various programs. Responsibilities include contributing lived experience to discussions, helping organize and lead the autistic self-advocate team, and providing support and accommodations to team members who may need additional assistance due to their disabilities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    ECHO session participation:

    + ECHO Programs Hub Team Member - provide knowledge regarding autistic advocacy and recommendations to providers.

    + Participate in ECHO sessions as hub team member; up to 4, 2-hour sessions monthly.

    Content expert presentation:

    + Prepare and present 1-2 presentations on topics of expertise.

    + Attend monthly Hub team meeting and other relevant meetings as needed.

    Required Qualifications:

    + High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in working for non-profit or advocacy OR equivalent education/experience.

    + This position is very part time and would be only about 3-5 hours per month. Most of the times we have our ECHO programs are on Wednesdays. We also have one on Monday late afternoons. Our monthly HUB Team meetings are usually once a month on a Friday morning.

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Experience in an academic or non-profit setting.

    + Experience in advocacy for autistic individuals and other disabilities.

    + Experience in public speaking to healthcare professionals.

    + Experience in leading presentations on topics of expertise.

    + Technical Skills needed for this job are a working knowledge of MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Outlook Web Software, Adobe PDF, and Zoom.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $22.28 hourly

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $29.77 hourly
