    About the role:

    A **Distribution Inventory Supervisor** leads to ensure the accomplishment of distribution center goals, including those related to budget and cost structure.

    + Relocation is not available for this position.

    + This position requires working onsite five days a week.

    + Travel up to 30% is required.

    What you will do:

    • Making workflow decisions, improving service levels and costs for distribution center operations.

    • Supervising and motivating distribution center employees through effective coaching and training, clear communication of job expectations, and positive reinforcement of exemplary performance; maintaining a positive distribution center working environment.

    • Developing and implementing productivity, quality, and service standards. Resolving problems and identifying areas for improvements. Contributing performance data to strategic plans and reviews.

    • Ensuring all equipment receives preventative maintenance and repairs, as necessary.

    • Developing and ensuring execution for requirements and procedures for safety regulations.

    Additional Requirements:

    Associate's degree and/or 3-5 years of relevant experience

    What you will have:

    **Operational Functions:** Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    • Facilitates interrelationships between major functions and sub-functions.

    • Designs awareness programs for multi- and cross-functional issues of the regulatory environment.

    • Works to resolve obstacles to goals of several organizational functions.

    • Advises others to carry out responsibilities based on understanding of key organizational functions.

    • Evaluates relevant industry practices from an operations perspective and works accordingly.

    • Recommends efficiencies in operational functions wherever possible.

    **Coaching Others:** Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts and methods; ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    • Coaches one or several individuals or teams on a specific competency or subject area.

    • Contributes to the establishment of good coaching practices.

    • Monitors individual or team progress through feedback sessions.

    • Discusses alternative techniques for diagnosing and coaching individuals and teams.

    • Successfully coaches both superstars and problem performers.

    • Analyzes patterns and identifies key areas for improvement of processes or results.

    **Leadership:** Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    • Translates vision into specific functional or departmental initiatives.

    • Uses a normative decision model (with leadership styles and situational variables) to select style.

    • Promotes efficacy through monitoring, coaching & motivating subordinates, intervention, etc.

    • Uses emotional contagion to affect the mood of group members, tone of group and group processes.

    • Initiates structure: role clarification, setting standards, holding subordinates accountable, etc.

    • Employs various group decision-making methods depending on the situation.

    **Problem Management Process - MFG:** Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    • Evaluates alternative approaches to resolving a customer problem.

    • Receives, clarifies, and resolves a variety of standard and atypical problems.

    • Implements the processes and activities for handling unusual problems.

    • Advises others on the process and associated costs for different types of problems.

    • Monitors and improves problem reporting, tracking, escalation, and resolution.

    • Participates in trend and root cause analysis to identify and address recurring problems.

    **Distribution Center Management:** Knowledge of distribution processes, issues and considerations; ability to effectively manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to stores and/or customers.

    Level Working Knowledge:

    • Works with Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) basic processes and operations.

    • Maintains item and inventory management records.

    • Helps minimize bottlenecks and delays and the resulting impact on operating costs.

    • Uses real-time inventory software, with guidance, to move supplies where needed, when needed.

    • Assists in resolving issues related to physical space management.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $87,480.00 - $131,280.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
