Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer is a member of the Quality Team with primary responsibilities for ensuring the quality and airworthiness of components and repairs carried out at the repair station (MRO). The role involves the development, management, and communication of quality assurance methodologies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
• Collaborate with various functions to ensure quality standards are established and adhered to on all processes, programs, maintenance/repair and throughout the supply chain.
• Use knowledge of electronic components, mechanical components and material used for production/repair of hardware to assess compliance with program requirements, contract, and engineering documentation
• Design and analyze quality inspection and testing processes, conduct quality assurance audits
• Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable quality and reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements and perform follow-up verification for effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Conduct comprehensive root cause/corrective action on nonconformities; participate in Continuous Improvement activities
• Perform customer interface and manage flow down of customer requirements
• Manage customer satisfaction from the quality perspective
• Approve manufacturing/repair documents & support all aspects of repair station quality
• Liaise with the internal/external organizations/customers on quality issues and corrective actions
• Collect and analyze data, and generate technical reports and presentations
• Responsible for data integrity and process conformance to regulatory bodies like the FAA (Part 145), EASA (Part 145), and CAAC, as well as customer requirements and internal quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, AS9110).
• Interface with the FAA, third party regulators and other regulatory agencies during audits and address quality-related topics or issues.
• Review customer order requirements and assemble required documentation to accompany shipments.
• Drive quality performance in support of internal and external customer goals and objectives.
• Manage the defects parts per million process and its continual improvement
• Implement methods and practices to reduce variation. Understands the application of SPC, First Pass Yield, and can gage effective use within the factory.

• Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and production floor. Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across office for various needs.
• Work Environment
The work environment is split between office & production floor, with most work being performed in the office. Noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the production floor could occasionally require hearing protection.
Candidate skills & requirements
Required Competencies, Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, statistics, quality or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality or Engineering within an FAA/EASA regulated environment, with a preference for MRO operations experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. green card holder), political asylee or refugee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• AS9100, AS9110, ISO9001, FAA, EASA, CAAC, Mil-Std working knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in Safety Management Systems, APQP, Quality Auditing, Human Factors, First Article Inspections and Counterfeit Parts prevention
• Thorough working knowledge with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen Events, and Continuous Improvement, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies
• Experience with problem solving methodology such as 5-why, A3 and 8D
• Knowledge of manufacturing structures, varied processes, operating practices, and operating budgets.
• Experience managing several projects simultaneously
• SAP experience a plus
